APPLE HOMEPOD ADVERTISEMENT ANALYSIS
Apple homepod is a Smart speaker and it works just like Alexa from amazon, and Google Home. Even though, this product aren't as popular as the other competitor in the market but, so far they have the best speaker in the game and of course what makes it stands out is the apple ecosystem advantages.
MEDIA LANGUAGE
In the beginning of the advertisement. the color scheme of the shots were dark and cold, it represent the dark side of the corporate workers where they are treated just like a machine. When the main character arrived home, the color scheme turn warmer. it shows the sense of comfort to be 'home'. When the speaker is playing, she started dancing, her surrounding turns surreal that portrays that she actually has a wild imagination but trapped below her responsibility. This show that the speaker's audio quality is outstanding.
REPRESENTATION
The video took place in a big city that never sleep. The people that live in the city have a modern lifestyle, very encourage freedom of expression as we can see on the main character. she is a woman but she look like a men; she has short hair, and wear men's clothing. In the dancing scene, the wall turned from ordinary white into multi colored (rainbow) depict that she's expressing her innerself. This can be also represent that she's an LGBTQ since lately, rainbow color oftenly get corelated with the LGBTQ community.
AUDIENCE
The audience targeted for this ad is the middle working class that work on a boring working environment, with high income, but doesn't really have the privilege to experience work life balance. As we can see from the advertisement, the lady is formally dressed and looks really tired after going back from work, and dance to her favorite music on a speaker.
INDUSTRY
Smart speaker has been a thing in these past years. The movement started by amazon after they bought a virtual assistant technology largely based on a Polish speech synthesiser named Ivona (renamed as Alexa) and put it into a speaker. In the next few years, big companies like Google introduced their smart speaker hosted with their AI assistant, Google assistant. And in 2018, Apple released their very own smart speaker called the Apple Homepod with Siri as their virtual assistant.
